When I am seen

When I am seen as the one who is “different”,

I am called to shine –

the light of perspective that sees what others can’t; the hope that all can be unique!

When I am envied as the one who is “beautiful”,

I am called to weep –

For the one who has never been affirmed; who has never been sought after.

When I am fawned over as the one who is “richer”

I am called to love –

the one who is orphaned; the one who feels robbed of life’s opportunity.

When I am pushed aside as the one who is “poorer” –

I am called to give –

to the one who has lost their heart; to the powerful – who still longs for intimacy.

When I am mocked as the one who is “naive”,

I am called to laugh-

in the joy of innocence; in the wonder of freshness; in the blessing of hope!

When I am minimized as the one who is “broken”,

I am called to courage –

in the surety of process; in the freedom of healing; in the hope of grace.

When I am vibrant in the reality of who I am in the moment,

I am called to “be” –

with the one who is richer or poorer, different or beautiful, naive or “broken”,

and as “us” -celebrate the gift of Life.

Spirit dances slow

Choices within the spirit realm can be a little scary.

I thought I knew my self!

My world runs on routine! But when a sudden twist appeared then suddenly,  I leapt off of the tracks. I found I seemed to now run blind, even when the my world was bright with light!

The shift of balance passing through the veil, is often rather quick. I sense a bit of shock and fear in finding fountains sparkling deep within!

The strong protecting walls of life are suddenly very thin! I never knew – with just a breath that rock could shimmer as if on whim!

Now, with Spirit’s brush, my world is bright and full of things unseen. I ponder – what should be my hope in seeking mystery’s delight?

Is there a danger lurking there – can things so bright be real? Or –  have I simply stumbled on a hole in someone else’s dream?

The things that I can see and feel, bring comfort to my soul.

The change occurs not just within , but leaps across to other’s grins. There is this spark, there is a flow, that paints with colours bright. And so I live with wonder’s hope -alive in nature’s rush as Spirit dances slow.

Stumbling in the dark

My path at night is dark and gloomy,

It’s hard to see without a light.

The roots that trip and things that claw me,

surprise my heart and I take flight.

Yet on this same path in the daytime,

I walk without a care and even play!

I never ponder why I’m fearless,

when deep within I see the way.

Yet now I found my little flashlight,

its bright and shines like mid-day sun.

The world though dark has been enlightened,

and now my my inside’s bright and fun!

Its as I walk with no light seeing,

that darkness fills my world inside.

My future’s dark, uncertain – fearful,

I jump and startle at things that hide.

But when within me light shines brightly,

I shine love’s joy as if a beam,

what comes back sweetly, living in me

is life’s delight with wonder’s theme!

Unplanted roots

I dug a plant up with a  spade,

I made a hole, I marked a  grave.

The plant though whole is now forlorn.

It’s lost it’s place beneath the sun!

When planted deep – I saw its leaf.

A perfect form all green and bright.

I dug it up, and saw it’s source

Its roots where white yet bathed in dirt.

I sensed perfection of design.

I stood amazed – all parts complete!

I then had insight from Spirit’s brush,

the plant though whole was on death row!

We all have context, mark our space.

We sense our individual parts intact.

Yet still we wander dying dry,

not grasping that, my roots need place.

When I depend on life that flows,

from  sources deep yet veiled, unseen,

I draw my life up deep within

then bless with fruit, as I laugh and grin.

Chains and freedom

I have a name,

it once was loved by friends and all.

Last night I slept under the stars.

I sprawled in dirt; my brain was far.

So many passed by me and scoffed.

They see a drunk – and that, unloved!

I have a name,

I still remember! I love to speak to those who know!

Today, I wished I could be elsewhere,

With family, love – those once held dear.

I needed someone  to say I mattered,

to say I’m longed for -still beloved!

I have a name,

no longer held to – I have believed that man has died.

In death, I will remember I still was living,

with ones who could have helped me live.

I need you now to please remember,

I’m still a slave – trapped in a grave.

I have a name,

I can not see it – its buried deep inside a tomb.

They say that name can still be resurrected,

because this one believes in me.

I’m blind! Will you who see, draw Him to me?

If you believe – can He free me?

Play come calling

Play – comes calling, tickling hearts.

The joy that bubbles seems so free.

It leaps upon you like a fountain

spraying incandescence far and wide.

Then there’s quiet moment’s eddy,

full of pleasure warm and kind,

contemplating what will next be,

as sweet imagination’s glory shines.

Soon some lightening flashes forward,

action figures spring to life.

Heroes rise and then they splatter

in the shadows of adult life.

Grief contends with evil’s power,

twisting pain and bringing fear,

’til the gallant rise victorious,

in the war to end all strife.

Play is simply destiny calling!

It empowers hope to thrive.

When you see a child not playing,

something deep within has died.

So one role in life’s adventure,

is to stimulate more play!

When we live in child’s blessing,

we breathe life into each day.
