Legs a running

A saw a dad embrace a son

his heart was torn and raw.

He hung his head in pain and shame

yet wished for something more.

He really wanted comfort,

but locked himself away,

until strong arms reached out to say-

“I saw you yesterday!

I did not see the anger.

I did not hear the lies.

I saw within a young man’s cry

the heart that called my name.”

I sent my legs a running.

I lifted up strong arms.

I sought until I found you –

this son, who’s darkness became sun.

Love’s trust

Faith is a certainty,

established by your eyes.

I feel your heart extended

and a trust begins to rise.

Your hand is gentle holding mine,

you heart is mine – true friend!

I truly can believe again –

before,  I couldn’t have tried!

I feel the sweetness of your breath,

My heart beats one with your’s.

I’m settled deeply in this place –

life’s best when peace becomes my rest!

What used to cause a flight of fear,

now brings my eyes to yours.

What brought me to my knees in tears,

now shared with you is joy.

The trust I have established firm

was not a fierce debate,

I simply rested in your eyes,

content cause you were there.

Your love is steady and complete

you’re there when I am beat.

So trust was really a surprise

that grew as life was shared with you.

I learned to rest  – you would come through –

and found what couldn’t be seen was blessed.

Faith is a certainty – a gift from love most true.
